Spiritual Activities

Many of our Spiritual Activities are done by the Director of the Newman Centre, Mr. Nathan Gibbard. The spiritual activities of the Newman Students Society are mainly carried out in collaboration with the Newman Centre. These activities include some basic ways of living out the Catholic faith, such as:

  • The Mass: Tuesdays to Fridays at 4:00pm, Saturday at 6:00pm and Sunday at 5:00pm. (Check the Newman Centre site for updates and changes to these times). The music for weekend Mass is provided by various members of the Newman Students Society, who also serve as readers and in other capacities.
  • Major special events in the Catholic year: Especially Advent, Lent, Holy Week and Easter. Students participate in all these activities and are the principal planners of most of them, alongside the pastoral team at the Newman Centre. New volunteers always welcome!
  • Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament: Offered to students before weekday Mass, from 3:00pm to 4:00pm Tuesday to Friday. (Check the Newman Centre website for updates and changes to these times).
  • The Rosary: During adoration before weekday Mass, from about 3:40pm to 4:00pm.
  • Weekly fireside chats discussing current issues relating to the Catholic Church.
  • Alternative Spring Break
  • Bible Study
  • and more
