Not sure about volunteering? Check out the following and your fears should recede at once!
Fire alarms!
At least one a semester (usually when a VP SNS is coordinating).
Misplaced ingredients
"So, I guess the sugar was for the tea. What's that? What cranberry sauce? How much salt goes into the gravy again?"
"I was supposed to buy salad dressing? What? Does anyone have a good recipe for salad dressing?"
(Not so) Great Preparation
Newmanite: "So, what's on the menu today?"
Anonymous former VP SNS: "Uh, I'll figure out in an hour when I go shopping"
Anonymous former VP SNS: "Note to self: in order to avoid panic, next time the turkey probably should be bought in advance, not the day of."
Anonymous current VP SNS: "Oh no, I do not think we have enough food...(said many prayers and sent frantic looks upward)."
Three words: Oktoberfest lentil salad
What do these have in common? For all of them, a former or current VP SNS can be held responsible. As you can see, even the "Pros" slip up, so don't worry and give volunteering a go!
Life Is Easier! Coordinate this year and enjoy the benefits of access to the Newman Recipe book for ideas, amounts and other information (such as awesome cooking tips). The Newman Recipe book is a collection of all the recipes that people have used for Saturday Night Suppers, including some treasured family recipes that cooks have shared with the community in the past. It is available for the general use of the Newman community.
If you have any comments, questions, suggestions, or mashed potatoes, feel free to contact the VP- Saturday Night Supper.
