2. Movie Night: The Human Experience - Saturday, January 28 7:30PM
Have you ever found yourself pondering the question 'Who am I?' or 'Who is man?' Come and discover a possible answer in watching the documentary The Human Experience this weekend! Following the tracks of a group of men seeking the breadth and depth of the human experience, find out what it's like to live among the homeless, the disabled and the sick, and see for yourself the power of the human spirit. Don't forget to stick around after the movie to discuss your thoughts!

3. Still want to help the NSS?
Missed out on Monday's Council meeting but you still want to help? New to the Newman Students' Society and want to get involved? Send us an email and let us know!

4. Bible Study - Wednesdays 7:00PM
Abraham and the Dark Knight, Moses and Superman, Elijah and Spiderman - what are the connection between the superheroes of today and the Bible figures of yesterday?  We will be doing a survey of many of the major figures in the Bible, learning there stories by reading key sections of Bible, and thus learning more about them and who we are as well.  Come Wednesdays a 7 p.m. for pizza, fellowship and good discussion. This week will conclude the segment with Abraham and the Dark Knight!

5. YOUCAT on Tap - Cancelled until Friday, February 10
As our campus minister and YOUCAT on Tap coordinator Terrel will be on leave, YOUCAT on Tap will resume on Friday, February 10. In the meantime, feel free to read the YOUCAT on your own and enjoy your own beverages, just in case you miss your Friday evening gatherings too much.

6. Annual Monastic Retreat - Friday, January 27 - Sunday, January 29 The Newman Centre's Annual Monastic retreat is an opportunity for students to take a break from their busy lives and spend a weekend in silence and prayer. The retreat is behind held at the monastery of the Recluse Missionaire, a community of nuns who live in the north-east of Montreal. This is a silent retreat so most group activities, like meals for example will be in silence. We will be living in community with the Recluse Sisters and are invited to participate in morning and evening prayer (Laudes & Vespers), meals, and daily Mass.
The theme for the weekend is "Lord, teach us to pray" (Luke 11:1). A young married couple named Michael & Linda Doep will be giving a few talks on the retreat related to our theme. Michael & Linda run a part-time catholic evangelization ministry out of Ottawa called Mission of the Redeemer.
One of the charisms of the Recluse Sisters is their devotion to perpetual Eucharistic Adoration. So if you so desire, you will have the opportunity for unlimited one-on-one time with the Lord. There are a few group activities, but most of the weekend will be free time to spend however you like! If staying indoors isn't your cup of tea, the convent is located in a beautiful area ideal for hiking and cross-country skiing.
The cost for students is $90 and non-students $110. If you're interested, contact Terrel at terrel_joseph@hotmail.com or  514-578-2134.
